Who Can Get a Learner's Permit
In Mississippi, you must be at least 15 years old to apply for a learner's permit. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign your application to consent to the permit issuance.
Driver education: Driver education is not required. Mississippi does not require driver education to get a permit or license, though it is strongly recommended.
Residency: You must be a Mississippi resident and provide official documents proving your identity, Social Security number, and physical state address during your in-person visit.
Fees and What You Pay For
Mississippi charges an application fee of $7 for the instruction permit. This fee is paid at the DMV office during your visit.

If You Don't Pass

After You Pass
Once you pass the vision screening and written knowledge test, you will receive a temporary paper permit, and your official plastic learner's permit card will be mailed to your state address.
